Literature Text

I remember,
though you do not.
I remember the blood
that stained our hands and weapons.
I remember the pain
that wracked our souls.
I remember the death
that took our dearest friends.
I remember the fire
that burned my merry memories.
I remember the hatred
that festered in all our hearts.
But do you not care?
Do you not remember?
I do not trust them, friend.
You should not either.
I remember why,
though you do not.
A short free-verse poem. It's quite vague, but it's rooted in a fantasy story that I'm writing. The speaker of the poem talks to his friend, who is agreeing to ally with their old enemies, who once battled and killed many of them.
This poem is my work, and is not to be copied or reproduced in any way.
